Federal Environment Minister Jim Prentice says work on a new clean-energy strategy will begin immediately with the U-S administration.
Prentice says 2009 will be a pivotal year in terms of controlling greenhouse gas emissions culminating with a December meeting in Copenhagen aiming for a global agreement on reducing emissions.
He says the Canadian and U-S strategy will be developed on a parallel path with Copenhagen.
Speaking in Calgary yesterday, the environment minister said the carbon capture and storage technology is already proven successful as a result of EnCana’s project in Weyburn, Saskatchewan.
