European infrared building surveyors, IRT Surveys, are launching a new technology that reveals energy loss and CO2 emission from buildings.
IRT Energy uses patented software and an online portal to filter infrared images of buildings to reveal exactly – and only – where energy is being lost. Images can also be analysed to quantify CO2 loss – and even the cost of the losses to the building’s owner or occupier.
The company says the technology could be used to enhance theoretical test methods like Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) for Energy Rating of Dwellings or provide a cost-effective analysis method for Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).
The technology could dramatically reduce the time and cost involved in determining the energy performance of a building, says IRT Surveys.
“This technology is so accurate and the analysis so quick that, for the first time, it is now physically possible to survey and analyse every home in the country,” says CEO of IRT, Stewart Little.
