China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced the last batch of 48 Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects approved before the end of 2008 on its website on February 6, reports in-en.com. The projects include Huadian Power International Corporation’s (600027.SH, 1071.HK) 300MW wind power project in Beiqinghe, Inner Mongolia, said the report. The CDM is an arrangement under the Kyoto Protocol by which developed countries offer capital and technical assistance to developing countries as an alternative to more expensive emission reductions in their own countries. The NDRC has approved a total of 1,797 CDM projects since 2004, the report said.
Ten wind turbines in a wind power plant in Changling, Jiangxi province began generating on-grid power on February 11, and 13 more turbines are expected to begin operation at the plant the end of February, reports in-en.com. Taken together with 20 turbines in a Jishanhu, Jiangxi province plant that began operation on January 4, the 30 turbines have a total capacity of 45,000 kWh, said the report.
