Farmers should get a “full-market value” for reduction in greenhouse gases, a former Clinton administration official says.
The official’s comments came during the Agricultural Conference on the Environment, held Jan. 28 in Lansing. A number of area farmers and agricultural industry officials gathered to learn about the farming’s impact on the environment.
Representatives from the Michigan Farm Bureau, Michigan State and Ohio State universities, gathered for a number of informational sessions discussing topics ranging from alternative energy production to the impacts of bioeconomy on the environment.
Debbie Reed, who served under President Clinton on the White House Council on Environmental Quality, spoke about the role of the agriculture industry in climate change.
