Farmers, grassland and woodland owners have an opportunity to receive payments for conservation tillage methods or recent plantings of perennial grasses and trees by selling carbon credits through the Chicago Climate Exchange. The credits are purchased by companies to aid and abate the global climate change through carbon sequestration. Learn more about how to qualify for carbon credit payments and how plants sequester carbon!

Southeastern Minnesota’s forested landscapes provide home to wildlife, income for landowners, clean water, and a beautiful, scenic backdrop; however, the future health of these forests depends on care and wise management. If you own or spend time in southeastern Minnesota woodlands, attend the woodland management classes this year. Besides these two classes, classes on Introduction to GPS, Growing and Tending Your Forest, Tree Planting, Direct Seeding, Oak Regeneration, Recreational Trail Design, and Intergenerational Land Transfer are offered.

Classes are offered as a broad collaborative between the University of Minnesota Extension, the Minnesota DNR, Zumbro Valley Woodland Council and the Minnesota Forestry Association with funding from the Forest Stewardship Grant.
