A lot of local travel initiatives involve cycling promotion, but not everybody is able to ride a bike. A new challenge set by The Bike Station hopes to find the workforce in the city that travels smartest – not just on bikes.

By setting up a league table of employers, the Causewayside charity hopes employees will log all their journeys throughout February.

By pitting local workforces against each other, the challenge aims to help locals save money, help the environment and become fitter. There are also prizes including a hot air balloon ride, two annual Lothian Bus passes, a bike worth
