Carbon emissions will soon reach highest levels in history

| Sourced From |

Man-made emissions in Earths atmosphere will soon reach their highest levels ever recorded, according to recent analysis.

The news comes from findings released by Exeter Universitys Professor Pierre Friedlingstein and University of East Anglias Professor Corinne Le Quéré.

The findings forecast that 2011 will see unprecedented levels of CO2 created by coal, gas and oil being burned at the most rapid rate ever recorded. This comes despite a recent dip caused by the global economic crisis.

Last year, levels of CO2 emissions had dropped by 1.3%, which is just half of what experts had predicted beforehand.

Experts say the recession had greatly effected emissions production in the UK, Germany, America, Russia, France and Japan. Britains emissions levels were a whopping 8.6 lower in 2009 than one year prior.

Now emissions levels are predicted to increase by 3% in the coming year, which is higher than the yearly growth rate seen on average.

The warning comes despite the fact that researchers have been warning governments and commercial bodies for over 20 years that emissions needed to be curbed by drastic levels as soon as possible.

Scientists also say that recent efforts by campaign groups, industries and governments to reduce emissions have simply been too feeble.
