HP reduces carbon footprint during COP16

| Sourced From |

HP, the worlds largest information technology firm, was awarded the contract to provide full IT support for the ongoing COP16 summit in Cancun, Mexico where more than 170 countries have gathered to discuss climate change.

The Mexican government awarded the COP16 contract based on HPs end-to-end technology solutions. The company will provide visual collaboration technology that will enable participants from both government agencies and NGOs to actively collaborate on GHG emission reduction through technology.

HP has not only made their technology available to world leaders but has also incorporated the same in their new desktops for both public and private customers.

Engelina Jaspers, VP of Environmental Sustainability, HP, is present in Cancun during the ten-day summit to assist all participants with the use of the technology.

Information Technology only constitutes 2% of the GHG emissions but HPs participation in and cooperation with the COP16 is intended to encourage world leaders to use technology to further reduce the 98% of GHG emissions.
