Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems provider SAP is looking to lower its carbon footprint.
The Germany-based company released its quarterly sustainability update – revealing it had reduced its worldwide CO2 emissions from 120 kilotonnes to 115 kilotonnes in the second quarter of this year.
It stated the firm was able to make itself more energy-efficient by limiting energy consumption and increasing the purchase of renewable energy – despite a surge in business travel prompted by the economic recovery.
Steps have been taken to introduce green policies at the provider through the use of data centre design, virtualisation technology and efficient hardware.
