Carbon Credits Should Be Given for Saving Trees, Australia Says

March 25 (Bloomberg) — The United Nations should award carbon credits to countries for not cutting down trees in a new climate treaty being negotiated, Australia said.

The securities would be rewarded for avoiding deforestation starting in four years and trade on international carbon markets, Australia said in a proposal to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
