The CO2 group has field operations in Wagga.
Chief executive Andrew Grant says the decision to delay the scheme’s introduction by a year shows the Government is committed to getting a carbon trading scheme in.
“Strangely enough we view today’s announcement as a positive because we think it increases the likelihood that the scheme will be supported through the Senate,” he said.
“We’re of the view that a scheme that is supported by both sides of politics is a better outcome than a pure scheme that never gets implemented.
“It’s got a very difficult job in balancing some of the short-term pressures of a global recession with the long-term challenge of introducing a carbon budget.
“Our view on the announcement today is that the hardest step in a journey is the first step and what today’s announcement does is confirm that the Federal Government is committed to getting a carbon trading scheme in – that’s positive.”
