Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has set a goal of making its international airports carbon-neutral by 2020, said managing director, Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad.
The airports are Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Kuching International Airport, Langkawi International Airport and Penang International Airport.
He said carbon neutral meant the airports would not pollute.
“MAHB has started work to reduce carbon footprint generated at the international airports.
We want to eliminate as much as possible carbon emission at the airports and this is not impossible.
“Three airports-New Zealand, Sweden and one in North America-have achieved carbon neutral,” he said at the launch of MAHB’s Annual Sustainability Report for 2009 here today. Meanwhile, special officer in the managing director’s office, Majidah Hashim, said no special fund was allocated for the green technology now.- Bernama
