Operations manager Lisa Broadhead watches operative Paul Wood hard at work at Leeds-based Everbuild Building Products, which is aiming to reduce its CO2 emissions by 243 tonnes a year.
The UK’s largest independent manufacturer of sealants, adhesives, fillers and building chemicals, which has a turnover of £47m, is in the process of introducing a more energy-efficient means of supplying its office and water heating to replace the gas-fired boiler currently in use.
It also plans to install an electrical energy saving technique as part of plans to reduce power bills by 20 per cent per annum.
Ms Broadhead said: “We want to cut our energy costs and become more environmentally friendly. Also, our customers are increasingly asking for evidence of our energy and environmental credentials.”
The Manufacturing Advisory Service carried out a review of the building and advised Everbuild how it could improve environmental performance and cost savings.
