Low-carbon master plan from UK govt

The new coalition government will be releasing the report 2050 Pathways imminently.

It will detail the ways in which the government plans to achieve its goal of reducing carbon emissions by 80 per cent on 1990 levels by 2050.

The proposals raised in the report will feature detailed analysis and data on the different low-carbon scenarios which may arise, as well as being open for public consultation.

A spokesperson for the Department of Energy and Climate Change told Business Green: “The aim is to look at a number of different ways to plausibly get to where we need to be – which is 80 per cent cuts with a secure energy supply.”

The Sunday Times recently reported that the Carbon Trust, which helps organisations reduce their business energy costs and consumption, may be axed by the coalition to provide funding for the new Green Investment Bank.
