New carbon footprint guidelines for chemicals industry
The Chemical and Allied Industries’ Association (CAIA) will be releasing a carbon footprint guideline document later this month, as part of its Responsible Care initiative.
This is in support of the association’s aim of encouraging members to extend the measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the current scope one direct emissions, to scope two and three indirect emissions, says CAIA Responsible Care manager Louise Lindeque.

View: Damaged peatlands in England ‘leaking tonnes of carbon into atmosphere’
Damaged peatlands in England are leaking as much carbon into the atmosphere each year as the emissions of 350,000 households, according to an audit of the habitat by Natural England.
The government’s conservation agency carried out an assessment of the extent and condition of English peatlands and found that almost three-quarters of deep peat areas in the country are now damaged or degraded.
