Humanity has of course screwed things up, at the same time it has also avoided disasters - no thermonuclear melt down (so far), market internvention on CFC's and Sulphur emissions. Sure...you can hide in your hole and be a doom merchant - or you believe humanity has always needed some people to make an effort, and today is no different. I like breathing fresh air as much as the next guy but good luck making any headway when china, india and almost any other emerging nation will be polluting up a storm.
