China cuts in to oppose Taiwan’s UNFCCC bid

Copenhagen, Dec. 18 (CNA) A marathon meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference was held in the Danish capital Thursday, during which many of Taiwan’s diplomatic allies spoke in support of Taiwan’s inclusion in the group until a Chinese delegate cut in to oppose the bid.

Foreign Minister: Joining UNFCCC faces block by China

Foreign minister Timothy Yang said Tuesday that Taiwans hopes of joining the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) face obstruction from China.

Lawmakers to review carbon act

Paper producer gets set to sell carbon offsets

Cheng Loong Corp., one of Taiwan’s largest paper manufacturers, announced Oct. 21 that it is the first company on the island validated to sell its carbon dioxide emission rights.
