Low carbon Morrisons planned for Peterborough

Plans for a new supermarket, billed as “a front runner for a new generation of low carbon buildings”, have been approved, reports Construction Enquirer.

The new Morrisons store in Peterborough will the the first to be lit entirely by low-energy LED lighting and roof windows will provide the store with natural daylight. A solar wall will be used to “heat up air in voids within the cladding” says Construction News, then that heat will be used in store.

Norman Cotswold church to go ‘zero carbon’

Work to make St Michael and All Angels Church in Withington the first zero carbon church in the UK is due for completion at the end of September.
