Trees enlisted in carbon control

Researchers at the U.S. Forest Service’s Rocky Mountain Research Station in Fort Collins are taking a look at how managing forests to promote carbon sequestration might help put a damper on climate change.

All those trees in the mountains absorb carbon in the air originating from vehicle tail pipes, which means the more trees there are in the woods, the more vehicle carbon emissions are trapped in the forest without contributing to climate change, said Tom Crow, manager of the Forest and Woodlands Ecosystem Pro-gram at the Rocky Mountain Research Station.

I am not against Climate Change Control. I believe internationally binding mandatory legislative Carbon Control Cuts will not work. I do believe Regional multi-state, multi-province Carbon Control Cut agreements will work in the near to mid-term until the International community can agree to binding and enforceable Carbon Control Cuts. When the binding international agreements covering the world economy will occur is decades away.

Greens: No escape from Clean Air Act on CO2

A key Sierra Club attorney says the groups support for final passage of a climate bill is conditioned on the preservation of EPAs authority under the Clean Air Act [CAA] to require reductions in greenhouse gases (GHGs) from existing facilities, an assertion that appears to be a reversal from the groups prior support for a House-passed cap-and-trade bill that would strip the agency of most of its air act authorities in dealing with GHG emissions.
