Cleveland Carbon Fund breaks new ground in the carbon reduction market

CLEVELAND – A collaborative group of Cleveland-based founding partners announced today the launch of the Cleveland Carbon Fund, an advised fund at the Cleveland Foundation which is breaking new ground in the carbon reduction market.

The Cleveland Carbon Fund is the first, community-based, open-access carbon reduction fund in the United States. The Funds mission is to sponsor the formation and implementation of local carbon reduction projects that help foster economic development, social well-being and environmental stewardship in the Cleveland community. The Fund offers a structured, highly transparent option for the public to easily play a role in reducing carbon emissions.

Founding Partners of the Fund, who hold permanent positions within the Cleveland Carbon Funds Advisory Committee, include: the City of Cleveland, Cleveland Clinic, the Cleveland Foundation, Cleveland Museum of Natural History and The George Gund Foundation. Additionally, the fund has gained initial support from forward-thinking community partners including Charter One Bank, Forest City and BrownFlynn, with more to follow.
