Rubber growers and carbon credits

The Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives Ministry has encouraged rubber growers to focus more on carbon-credit management.

Deputy Agriculture Minister Supachai Phosu said yesterday that participating in the carbon-credit system would generate more income for growers.

Panel to advise bus leasing dropped

The House committee for counter corruption of the Parliament will propose that the government cancel the planned leasing of 4,000 NGV buses after it found legal irregularities.

Charnchai Issarasenarak, vice chairman of the committee, said yesterday that the planned leasing breached the law and would lead to a huge loss for the government.

The panel will submit its investigation results to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, Parliament and the House committee for social and economic development by tomorrow.

Logistics congress to boost confidence

The upcoming summit for logistics – the “International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA World Congress 2010)” – to be held in Bangkok from October 4-8, should help Thailand bolster foreign investor confidence, Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Ponlaboot said yesterday.

Home-builders upbeat on show

The Home Builder Association is staging “Home Builder 2009” – featuring the “Home Comes True” concept – from August 19-23 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. It expects contracts worth Bt1.5 billion to be signed at the five-day event. – The Nation
